FASHIONABLE TRENDS
www.hip hop images.co.za
Various fashion trends have emerged since the 1950's. Fashion has been able to express people's opinions and personalities. People are able to form perceptions about you from what u are wearing. Fashion has emerged as a dominant perspective to change and has adapted to the modern fashion stlyes which include knitwear, colour blocking and the versatile blazer. Fashion garments can enhance communication between people from different races, religions and cultures. What you wear says a lot about your personality. The pantsula fashion style of clothing emerged in the 1950's. It consisted of Dickies formal pants, a Nike cap and All Star sneakers. The pantsula look fitted the image of township boys who were not in model c schools and who were not able to afford clothes that were expensive. This culture of fashion has been put into practice by renowned celebrities such as TKZEE, Mashamplani and Trompies. The image that these groups created was that you don't have to come from a rich backgroungd to succeed in life. Most members in these groups were under- privledged children, but they never gave up on their dreams on being successful musicians. Another fashion trend that is dominant is the colour-blocking trend. This enables fashionistas to play around with colours of their choice. The aim is to be bright and beautiful, but not to overdo it by mixing more than four colours in one outfit. The colour blocking theme has created publicity with regards to most social events using the clour blocking them as a dress code stipulation. A very dominant dress code amongst people is the hip hop culture.Fashion items which are part of the hip hop culture include Nike airforce sneakers, baggy jeans, timberland sneakers and sporty caps.
