FASHION FOR MEDIA

Fashion for the media involves celebrities, journalists, the community and other stakeholders  dressing up for events to make a statement or to showcase the latest fashion trends. Fashion can be a state of mind , a spirit or an extension of one's self. Media personalities need to always be on point by wearing outfits that appeal to their target market. Most young people look up to media personalities who portray their image through their fashion outfits. Dressing up for the media is very important bacause it involves the processes of innovation and self-renewal. The fashion industry is forever changing and it always has new trends in the market. Media personalities should be experts on how to blend different styles together.

THE SHIFT FROM TRADITIONAL TO NEW MEDIA
(WWW.FASHION IMAGES.CO.ZA)
The shift from traditional to new media has had a great impact with regards to the fashion industry. people use technological advances such a the internet and google to access the latest trends in the fashion industry.  People are able to buy their favourite items of clothing online without the hassle that they have to stand in long lines at retail shops. Traditional media is still a means of commmunicating the latest fashion trends to internal and external stakeholders. Consumer magazines such as Glamour and Elle  appeal to a certain target audience and they are informative magazines which cover a variety of topics. They are still bought by the masses because they last longer and are affordable. New media impacts the public relations profession positively because people are using social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to engage in conversations with the masses. Some of the celebrities who use social networking sites to create publicity about themselves include:
  • Bonang Matheba
  • Minehle Dlamini
  • Kabelo Mabalane
  • Mpho Maboi
