VINTAGE VS RETRO FASHION
According to fashion mogul David Tlale, vintage items are antique pieces of clothing which were made during the period between the 1920's to the 1970's. Retro fashion refers to clothing garments that imitate the style of the previous era of fashion garments. Vintage items of clothing are designed for the individual who has a passion for dressing up in accordance to the 1970's. Fashion buyers who invest their money in vintage clothing, rarely see their friends wearing the same garments as them. Vintage fashion makes u feel special and it is a perfect solution for fashion buyers who are looking for something different that will not be the same as fashion garments from Mr Price and other retail shops. Vintage clothes are innovative and fastest evolving because fashion buyers love vintage clothes that have a touch of modern types of clothing. Vintage and retro fashion defines a persons style and image. Do u agree that most vintage and retro buyers are unique individuals who want to look different from their peers? The old idiom that says 'the way u dress says a lot about you' can be applied to vintage dressers. they want to look different from their peers and create a perception that u can look beautiful by wearing a complete outfit that costs less than R100.00. Vintage fashion shops that offer various garments at an affordable price are Emma Jane Nation, Second Attitude vintage clothing and shoes and Reminscene. These stores are situated around the busky city of Johannesburg. These shops offer retro and vintage clothes at affordable prices for the average consumer. Although most vintage items are for women, it does'nt mean that males are not able to access these garments. Joburg clothing shops such as HipHop Boutique which is situated at Smal Street, does stock vintage male items at an affordable price
